Waldorf PPG Wave 3V Waldorf PPG 3.V Software
New launch of a classic: Waldorf delivers PPG Wave 3.V
The PPG Wave 3.V is the reincarnation of the legendary PPG Wave, arguably one of the most coveted high end synthesizers of the 1980s, originally developed by Wolfgang Palm. On countless hits the sounds of this instrument can be heard, which has inspired and influenced a whole generation of producers, composers and listeners. While the original PPG Wave System was offered at the price of a mid-class car, only affordable by a few top musicians and producers, now anyone can enjoy its breathtaking sonic character in their VST or AudioUnit host.
The PPG Wave 2 was the first digital wavetable Synthsizer with analog filters, that created new sound worlds and possibilities. A short time later, the PPG Wave 2.2 was released and made history. With a huge arsenal of waveforms the PPG Wave 2.2 is not only well-known for its analog sounds, but also bells, choirs and extremely brilliant digital sound, and even until then unheard sensational sound patterns, which consisted of up to 64 different waveforms of these wave tables.
The technical possibilities of this time, however, brought issues up such as aliasing noise, which could not be avoided then, but now make up the charm and character of the PPG.
To recreate the sound of the original, heard on countless hits, as closely as possible, original developer Wolfgang Palm was also involved in the development of the software counterpart. "We are proud that Wolfgang has always been helpful with advice and tips in order to reproduce the original sound," says Waldorf-CEO Joachim Flor.
The combination of digital waveforms and analog filters of the hardware PPG's caused quite an incomparably rich and expressive sound that is accurately reproduced by the Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V to the smallest detail. The Waldorf plug-in even simulates different versions of the original. In addition to the PPG Wave 2.2, the Wave 2.3 and the Wave 2.V are available to choose from. Also, the aliasing can be changed on request, as it sounded a little different on the PPG Wave 2.3 compared to the PPG Wave 2.2. You can even set cutoff and resonance deviations to simulate the inexactness of real analog filters.
Depending on the host computer the Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V may produce up to 256 voices per instance. Per voice, it offers two wavetable oscillators with selectable sample playback in 8, 12 or up to 32 bit. Also, a certain analog "imperfection" is simulated, which supports the basic warm and fat sound.
To enhance the sound library of the plugin, you can load samples via drag and drop, or the file-selection dialog. With the 8-way multi mode, it is even possible to play back multi-samples and to refine the sound with the charm of the original.
The sound production follows a 12 dB / 24 dB low pass filter, which is an authentic replica of the filter of the PPG Wave 2.2/2.3. An overdrive behind the filter provides additional sound options. Next to LFO modulation sources there are three additional envelopes to choose from, corresponding to the slightly coarser resolution of the original modulation. If needed you can also select finer settings.
The original PPG distinguished itself by its unique user interface, because the "Analog Control Panel" provided direct access to the most important sound parameters, whilst the digital menu pages presented the digital innards in numbers and cryptic abbreviations.
The Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V recreates this intuitive interface, however the parameter names and values shown are a little easier to understand so users always know which values they just changed.
Almost all parameters can be accessed via host automation and most of the parameters also support MIDI controller automation, so that the Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V can easily integrate into any existing production environment.

aldorf Largo Synthesizer Many producers and synthesizer enthusiasts asked for a full-blown Waldorf Synthesizer for their virtual rack. We listened, and now we proudly present Largo. Largo is the first pure software synthesizer with Waldorf DNA. And again – it is the cutting edge sound that makes the big difference.
No wonder, as Largo mirrors the technology used in Blofeld and Q hardware synthesizers. As for every Waldorf instrument, ergonomics are a core feature on screen as well. Your eyes will be pleased with a clearly structured, graphical user interface that supports your workflow intuitively.
Largo offers three fat oscillators, two of them with sub oscillators. These oscillators include models of classic analog waveforms as well as a selection of waves from the PPG and Waldorf Wave stored in two Wavetables. All these run through two Waldorf multimode filters with steep cutoff, resonance up to self-oscillation and a drive stage to add even more punch and grainyness to the sound. Ultra-fast envelope generators and flexible LFOs as well as an easy to understand, yet extremely versatile modulation matrix make for a sound designer's dream.
The filters have always been a core part of any Waldorf instrument. With outstanding expertise in both analog and digital synthesis, our developers took utmost care in developing the filters. And you can hear a significant difference when working with a Waldorf filter - they just sound right! Use the comb filters for plucked, stringed or blown sounds. Band pass, high pass, low pass and notch filters are all available with 12 dB and 24 dB slope. All of them sound extremely accurate and add pure sonic quality to the sound of your music.
Largo contains a flexible arpeggiator with 16 freely programmable steps as known from the exclusive Q synthesizer line plus an array of high quality effects such as Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Overdrive, Delay and Reverb.
The clearly arranged user interface helps you to create your own powerful synthesizer sounds in a breeze. Oscillators and filters are always in direct access while the submodules are only a mouse click away. It has the same exclusive voice architecture as the Q and Blofeld synthesizer line, fully integrated into the total recall system of your Digital Audio Workstation.
Largo works as a VST and AudioUnit instrument.

Moog Guitar The Moog Guitar puts revolutionary new technology in the hands of the guitarist. Moog Music is known for building the finest instruments and the Moog Guitar is first and foremost a very fine guitar; designed to be played by the best musicians as their primary axe. Its AAAAA maple top, mahogany body and ebony finger board bespeak the quality that musicians have come to expect from a Moog instrument.
The addition of Moog Guitar Electronics opens guitarists to a whole new musical vocabulary: Not a guitar synthesizer, not a MIDI guitar or an effects processor; players are intimately connected to The Moog Guitar because it works its magic on the strings themselves.

Peter Christopherson & the Persephone "Just to let you know that I have been playing my Persephone live, with my band Throbbing Gristle, to great acclaim! We played in the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern Gallery in London (The largest space in the most important of Britain's National Art Galleries) to a sold out audience of about 1000 and received a 10 minute standing ovation! (The first any artist has received there!)
And also just played for 3 days at London's Institute of Contemporary
Art on the Mall, where I used the Persephone to record tracks for a
forthcoming version of Nico's Desertshore album.
The Persephone is a truly fantastic instrument to play live. The range of frequencies extraordinary - the low end was literally shaking the building and apparently could be heard on the bridge outside! It is the most intuitive and enjoyable live instrument I have ever had the privilege to play."

Macbeth introducing the M5N ! ...Word got out that Macbeth was to run M5s that had a few changes- notably the panel colour... There have been some refinements in this design of the M5N instrument including yet further tightening of the of the transistor based Envelope Generators- on the 'FAST' setting- the Attack/Decay/Release parameters have been shortened by some milliseconds to produce our 'snappiest' envelopes to date. On the contrary- the 'SLOW' setting has these same parameters generating constants of up 5 minutes in rise and fall times...great for slow evolving ambient movements... Both Filters have been subject to far greater signal to noise ratios providing clean and equal outputs due to improved output stages using a combination of different parts...
