| Voice Box is a loud speaker module to use for quick monitoring, to give a retro ARP2600 / Wasp / VCS3 speaker sound, or to process sound (use a micí and pre-amp to bring the sound back to your system).
It comprises a 4W, 8Ohm moving coil speaker with a range of approx. 150-17KHz.
The module has an input level attenuator with an incorporated LED in the shaft.
Two speakers could be fitted to your system for stereo sound, or, run speakers in parallel to increase volume.
How the speaker sounds, like all speakers, really depends on the cabinet/case it is installed in. Ideally ensure there are no empty module slots in the front panel. Like all electro-magnetic devices, there could be EMI between say speaker, spring reverb and mains transformer.
Modular power supply current consumption is always a concern, and speaker amplifiers do of course take more power than most typical modules. So there has been a trade off between speaker size (which dictates the amplifier power required) and current consumption. Voice Box uses a modest 100mA whilst still being loud enough for most purposes.
Naturally, it is not intended for mastering or for use as a PA system for your next stadium gig!
