| The Defibrillator is based on the Analogue Solutions SY02 module which has its roots in the legendary Korg MS20 filter. Defibrillator is a versatile multimode filter with a hard edge. It comprises a 12dB/octave filter that can be switched between low pass and high pass, a 12dB/octave low pass filter and finally a voltage controlled amplifier. These three components can be used independently, or, in series, without patching by using the Link toggle switches.
There are of course CV inputs, with attenuators, for the cut-off voltages and the amplifier voltage.
There are a good selection of sockets, including independent audio ins, audio outs and CV ins to each of the three circuits (VCF1, VCF2, VCA).
All sliders have LEDs incorporated in the stems.
Defibrillator can produce soft and gentle filtering, but most users opt for the hard, dirty, distorted sound it can also produce. It’s possible to overdrive the sound at every stage, and even the resonance can be overdriven.
Using the high and low pass in series gives you band pass. Or use them both as low pass for a 24db/Octave filter.
The Defibrillator comes with a Doepfer style power cable. Screws are not included.
